Beautiful mountains, whitewater rivers, waterfalls, national forests and parks surround us. The city of Asheville is a vibrant town of paradoxes: tradition and progress, arts and business, historic homes and buildings and new construction, diversity and continuity, local familes with rich heritage and "move-ins" creating a new heritage. Close by are Hendersonville, Waynesville, Black Mountain, and many other communities. We have it all right here, but we are also convenient to Charlotte, Atlanta, Greenville, SC, and Knoxville, TN.
Come be a part of this awesome region!
Entertainment options abound year around in our small city. Sports include NBA minor league basketball team the Asheville Altitude, the Asheville Tourists baseball team, and NHL minor league team the Asheville Aces. The Asheville Symphony is one of the best around, and the Asheville Civic Center attracts musical, theatrical, trade, art, and other shows. Local theater includes the Asheville Community Theater, Highland Repratory Theater, Flat Rock Playhouse, and others. Asheville has five multi-screen movie theaters, two large shopping malls, and a vibrant downtown and Biltmore Village for shopping. Outdoor activities are almost limitless, including hiking, rock climbing, whitewater rafting, canoeing, kayaking, tubing, fishing, hunting, camping, and mountain biking. Arts and Crafts galleries thrive in our area. Within a short drive are not only many extraordinary artists' galleries, but also the Penland School and the John C. Campbell Folk Art School. If you are bored in Asheville, it is your own fault!
