Why Use Social Media, part 1: FaceBook

I am fresh from the annual RE/MAX Convention with all kinds of new ideas in my head.  In addition to the new ideas, there was some affirmation of old ones and clarification of how to apply them.

One of those old ideas was that there must be something to this social media thing.  Like many people, I hopped on Facebook maybe 3 years or so ago because of a "friend request" from, well, an actual friend.  I was on there about a day before, overwhelmed and confused, I closed my account.

A year or so passed, and hearing more and more about it, I decided to give it another go.  This time it stuck, but it has been a learning curve to know how to use it appropriately and enjoyably.

I knew that I didn't want to use it to "push" real estate, but I also wanted my friends to know that real estate is my business.  I think I have found a happy balance there.

I also have learned that I don't need to be "friends" with everyone I have ever known.  Because here is the deal about FaceBook:  it is truly about relationships!

Facebook should be a way to stay in touch with people you care about staying in touch with and for connecting with people you see regularly.

It has been a blast to follow my friends travels, children, and funny posts.  I have stayed in touch with my clients via FaceBook in a more personal way than ever before.

So before you shun FaceBook as a trend (it isn't) or intrusive (it doesn't have to be) or too complicated (you can figure it out), give it a try.  I'd love to get to know you!

Like my Real Estate Page here or send a friend request explaining who you are to me here.

With every sale I make, a contribution is made to at least one of these organizations:
