It Is Time For Some GOOD Real Estate News!
Rumor has it in Asheville that January sales were up considerably from January, 2011. So I thought I would check for myself. Pulling up the closed transactions for each year, I find that this year was up 7% over last year. Not bad -- I'll take any positive movement in the market!
All the buzz among my fellow agents is that this is going to be the year that things begin to improve. We know that it won't be a wild ride with foreclosures still being a big impact on the market as well as an overabundance of inventory. But what we do expect is more activity, and that is the first step toward reducing inventory and stabilizing the market.
The good news seems to be trickling across the country. I came across this article by Carrie Bay of DSNews.com which details markets that are showing signs of improvement, and some of them were areas particularly hard hit by the bust such as Florida, Georgia, Michigan, and California:
Number of 'Improving' Housing Markets Expands to Nearly 100
